Lesson #13
RATIONALE Students have previously summarized Little Red Riding Hood and applied the feminist perspective to this tale. They have begun planning a feminist rewrite of this story, and in this class period, they will continue this work and refine their vision for the rewrite.
PROCEDURES
OPENER Students will be instructed to open the Unit 10 Vocab List and the Unit 10 Vocab Sentence assignment on Edmodo. I will review the instructions and the example for the class, then have students complete the first sentence together on the board.
BODY OF THE LESSON Students will view another translation of Perrault’s moral to LRRH and share their thoughts on what issues a feminist might have with the story and the moral. We will then discuss how to change the story to address these issues, with examples given on the board. They will have the remainder of the class to finish their plans and begin their rewrites.
CLOSURE Students will be advised of the schedule for finishing their rewrites.
ACCOMODATIONS Students will work individually. All information presented will be given to them in the handouts as well as on the PB. Information is organized on a graphic organizer for clarity and ease of use.
ASSESSMENT/EVALUATION The sentences will be graded according to the instructions. Their plans will be graded in conjunction with their rewrites when finished.
