WRITING REFLECTION: PRE-ESSAY WRITING
1. How do you see yourself as a writer?
2. What do you like/dislike about your writing?
3. What are your strengths/weaknesses in writing?

5. How did you feel about the creative fairytale rewrite assignment before you started it? Did you think you would enjoy it? Did you think it would be hard, or easy? How did you feel about it when you were finished?

8. What suggestions do you have for changing or modifying the template to be more useful to you in planning and writing?

WRITING REFLECTION: PRE-ESSAY WRITING
1. How do you see yourself as a writer?
- I don't see myself as a writer because I (Karamoko)
- I see myself as a good writer (Ariel)
- I do not believe that I am a good writer but Ms. K. has been really pushing me to elaborate more on my writing. (Nay)
- I see my self confused as a writer because the fact that I only been here for one year makes me really confuse which am not good in writing. (Ashley)
- I really don't like writing because you have to make sure you add. (Kiana)
- I see myself as a good writer (Fanta)
- I see myself as being a basic writer (Ben)
- I see myself as a good writer outside of the classroom (Cheri)
2. What do you like/dislike about your writing?
- That I can express my thoughts on a piece of paper (Karamoko)
- I like how I am able to write good evidences and thesis statements. I dislike how I turn in essays with a little bit of grammar issues. (Ariel)
- I do not like that I repeat myself all the time. (Nay)
- I dislike making spelling mistake. (Ashley)
- Because its too much details and you have to go fact buy fact. (Kiana)
- What I like about writing is learning and what I dislike is seating down. (Fanta)
- I like that when I when I have a writing assignment uesy [sic] I have a lot to write about. (Ben)
- I like that I am able to express my feelings towards things in my writing without thinking of what others would say. (Cheri)
3. What are your strengths/weaknesses in writing?
- My weakness is that I write more than they call for (Karamoko)
- I really don't have any weakness. (Ariel)
- One of my strengths is using big words and trying to relate what I know personally to my writing. (Nay)
- My strengths is that I put a lot of effort in my writing. (Ashley)
- My weaknesses is not knowing what to put and how to start off. (Kiana)
- My strength is been a great writer and my weaknesses is not been a poor writer. (Fanta)
- My strengths are my ideas and my weaknesses are my spelling and gammer (Ben)
- My weakness in writing is having to write the way people tell me to, also having to use quotes. (Cheri)
4. Is writing important to you? Do you think it will be in the future?
- Nope, because I don't like to write (Karamoko)
- Yes if I am not able to complete good essays it could input my future. (Ariel)
- Writing is not important to me but I know I will need it in the future. (Nay)
- Yes, because it help people to develop their skills and experience. (Ashley)
- Its important and I feel like it will be important to me in the future. (Kiana)
- Yes. Definetly it will going to be in the future. (Fanta)
- Yes I do think writing is important to me and it will be in my future writing will be everywhere (Ben)
- Writing is important to me but I don't think that I will need it in the future other than when I go to college. (Cheri)
5. How did you feel about the creative fairytale rewrite assignment before you started it? Did you think you would enjoy it? Did you think it would be hard, or easy? How did you feel about it when you were finished?
- Corny, and not really, and I think will be hard. I felt good (Karamoko)
- I didn't like it before. I feel that it's more exciting. It was easy to do once you got the concept of it. I felt good to knew that I really just did my own writing. (Ariel)
- I felt it was going to be very hard. I thought it was going to be boring because it is such an old story. (Nay)
- I feel it was really hard because it was a lot of work about it and the fact that you have to summaries and write your own story makes it more hard. (Ashley)
- I felt good because it was better to understand also I did enjoy it. I was think it would be hard to it wast I felt good. (Kiana)
- I feel good. Actually I enjoy it. Not really. I feel awesome to write something on my own. (Fanta)
- Before I started the fairytale assig (Ben)
- Before I started it I wanted to do it because we could write it how we wanted to, not with quotes, evidence, and warrants. I felt good when I finished it also. (Cheri)
6. What has been the biggest challenge for you in writing essays in the past?
- Finding the evidence and re phrasing it (Karamoko)
- How to integrate a quote. (Ariel)
- The biggest challenge for me is staying engaged. (Nay)
- My biggest challenge is that (Ashley)
- Yes besides the one we are writing now. (Kiana)
- My biggest challenge is to write my own story. (Fanta)
- My biggest challenge for writing is my grammar I always did bad in that category (Ben)
- My biggest challenge is having to follow the template that was given because I felt if I could just write what I feel it would have been a lot easier for me. (Cheri)
7. What do you like/dislike about the color-coded essay-writing template?
- It chilling it helps me alot to (Karamoko)
- I don't have any dislikes. I like that it helps me understand what part goes with which. (Ariel)
- I like the color coded essays. It keeps the essays more organized. (Nay)
- I like the colors because it help me to understand more about what am doing and how to figure out what step am in. Which help me to move to the next step. (Ashley)
- Yes because it helps me just a little but the color coded mess with my eyes. (Kiana)
- I like the ways it tell you the different part of the essay. (Fanta)
- I really truly like that it helps me a lot when it comes to writing I like it because it shows me where every part of a paragraph (Ben)
- I like that you can see that you have all of the parts in the end because all things were color-coded. (Cheri)
8. What suggestions do you have for changing or modifying the template to be more useful to you in planning and writing?
- Not doing nothing at all (Karamoko)
- None, I like it the way it is. (Ariel)
- I think it is perfectly fine. (Nay)
- If you explain it before we do our homework it will be helpful. (Ashley)
- I don't know conss [sic] the template is essay. Although I like the boxes. (Kiana)
- It will going to help me for my outline organization (Fanta)
- I personally think its perfect the way it is I don't think it needs a changing (Ben)
- I think that words that we have to use like "that shows that" etc. should be taken out, and the quotes I really don't like that we have to use two of them and 2 warrants for each of them. (Cheri)
9. If you were asked to write an essay, would you use the template if it was not assigned? Explain what approach you might take:
- Yes because it is very help to me (Karamoko)
- I would use it. It's more easier to understand. (Ariel)
- I would use the template to be more organized and to help the reader understand more. (Nay)
- Yes, it helps me to organized my writing for my essay. (Ashley)
- Yes because it makes it easy and better to understand. What you have to talk about. (Kiana)
- It depend about the essay I am writing about. (Fanta)
- I will try my best to remember everything that was on the chart so I can do well (Ben)
- I would not use the template because I like just writing and not going by the template. (Cheri)
10. Why do you think you are you learning to write an essay analyzing a story using the feminist perspective (what is the purpose of this essay)?
- I guess it will help us in life or in college (Karamoko)
- To understand what authors are trying to tell us. There is more to a story than reading it. (Ariel)
- I think the purpose of this essay is to realize this is a problem. (Nay)
- To help people understand what they are doing. (Ashley)
- Think its because we will need it in life not just that but to use it in college. (Kiana)
- I think I'm learning by knowing how to use them. (Fanta)
- I will have to write the essay from a female point of view (Ben)
- I think that it was a learning experience for us to learn what feminist are and what they would fight for and the views that they have. (Cheri)
11. How do you feel about the feminist essay we are starting? In what ways will it be easy or hard?
- It is corny we are just writing from female point of view and change it up will be easy (Karamoko)
- It is easy and I don't find anything hard. (Ariel)
- I think it is going to be easy for me because I'm a female. (Nay)
- I was scarzed [sic] (Ashley)
- I feel good but its is hard because the story didn't make sinces. (Kiana)
- I am feeling kind of good because it's a lot to do. (Fanta)
- I think its hard because its really confusing (Ben)
- I feel good about the feminist essay it was easier than I thought it would be. (Cheri)
12. Who do you imagine as audience for your essay? How did you determine the audience? How did the audience affect the way you wrote your paper?
- I got no idea (Karamoko)
- Girls, the way it is written. I had to change it to fit the audience. (Ariel)
- My audience would be both sexes because I would like for both to see how it affects us females. (Nay)
- For everyone. (Ashley)
- I imagine as a young person who don't think inside the box. And her audience affect her because the way I wrote it. (Kiana)
- Everyone. I determine them as friends and teachers. I will try to convince them about my paper. (Fanta)
- I will want my audience to be anyone who likes my writing. (Ben)
- My audience would be people who believe that men are better than women because I would want to show them that women can do things too. (Cheri)
